BRAUNVIEH BEEF AUSTRALIA INC
TAKING BRAUNVIEH INTO THE 21ST CENTURY

Braunvieh Beef Australia Inc. was incorporated in September 2008.

The software for keeping strict records of pedigrees and other valuable information was obtained from ABRI in consultation with
Dr. A. Rickards OAM of ABRI .

Preserving a centuries old breed is a challenge in this day and age.
Taking Braunvieh Beef into the 21st Century is also a challenge, but today there are also tools that can be used as part of a selection process for the breeding of seedstock, ensuring the integrity of bloodlines and to measure these breeding decisions.

Modern technology gives us these tools as a further aid in our decisions, but we must also not forget the intuition and foresight of those early Swiss mountain farmers in developing the breed to what is has now become and what they are still achieving today.

Believe it or not, Braunvieh were originally imported into Australia when livestock import bans were lifted in the early 1970's!!

This Association wants to see Braunvieh recognised more widely in Australia and become part of the 21st century and in doing so be recognised as a beef breed that can contribute attributes towards a changing climatic world.

To help market your cattle, particularly as seedstock producers, breeders need to be aware of, and where possible, be part of any programs that can assist in putting your breed "out there"..

To be part of the future of one day perhaps being able to export live stud stock, it is strongly recommended that Braunvieh Beef Australia Inc members are part of recognised quality assurance programs (such as the Johnes MAP program) and have your animals on a vaccinating program which includes 7-in-1 and Pestigard.

All records including pedigrees, must be absolutely correct.
